Jimmy Carter: We're going to have some serious confrontation between
our fisherman and the Canadian fisherman very shortly.
Narrator: The President must deal with an endless range of issues as he
plans the nation's future. International problems emerge in his meetings
with high-level associates in the Executive Branch. No matter what the
arena, the President must be able to grasp the issue firmly.
Jimmy Carter: I'd like to say that our comprehensive nationwide health program
that's been presented to the Congress, I think has an excellent chance to win
Congressional approval, after thirty years of waiting.
Narrator: When he comes to support an issue-local, national or worldwide,
a President must know enough about that issue as one person can know.
That's his job.
